Margaret's Legacy Circle
The Circle was named for Margaret Emerson Vanderbilt, hostess and steward of Sagamore from 1911- 1954, and was created to recognize supporters who make provisions in their wills and estate plans for Great Camp Sagamore's future preservation and care. Members are recognized in the Annual Report and at special events.
Becoming a member of Margaret's Legacy Circle through a bequest or other charitable gift is a personal decision that does not require a donation of any specific amount. Donors understand that there is no such thing as a "small" gift and that each and every contribution is of great importance to Sagamore. Membership in Margaret's Legacy Circle is recognized by staff and trustees as the highest honor individuals can give Sagamore.
Members say,
"Great Camp Sagamore has meant so much to my grandchildren that I want it to be here for many more generations."
"I want to help preserve it. There is only one Great Camp Sagamore, the queen of rustic architecture."
"I saw the Milky Way from the head of the lake trail at Sagamore and I will never forget it. I want others to share my experience."
Besides helping to assure Great Camp Sagamore's future, there are other benefits for making charitable provisions in your will and estate plans:
- You may want to plan ahead so that your family knows your wishes
- You may want to make a gift that avoids probate and estate taxes
- You may feel you cannot give enough annually because of regular living expenses, but are able to make a more significant commitment from your estate.
All donations will be deposited in a permanent, restricted endowment fund managed for Great Camp Sagamore. For more information please call Executive Director, Garet Livermore at (315)354-5311 x1022 or by email at glivermore@greatcampsagamore.org
