Program Director

Great Camp Sagamore, a National Historic Landmark in the Central Adirondacks is recruiting for a new Program Director for its 2018 season. Sagamore is a 27 building complex built by William West Durant in 1897. The camp was later bought by Alfred Gwyn Vanderbilt and became their wilderness retreat for fifty years. The Vanderbilt family hosted celebrity icons, American aristocrats and outdoor adventurers far from the trappings of modern life. Located on an undeveloped lake amidst tens of thousands of acres of Adirondack wilderness, the complex is a stunning example of Adirondack "Great Camp" architecture.

The Program Director at Great Camp Sagamore designs, implements and evaluates the programming that is at the heart of the institution's mission.  Programs at Sagamore are developed both by the institution and partners including Roads Scholar and other organizations. This position oversees all residential adult programming; it also coordinates Sagamore's intergenerational programs with Road Scholar and seasonal staff.  Inherent in this position is the overall administration of Sagamore's programs. This includes calendar development, internal and external program coordination, assistance with intern recruitment, hiring and training and other duties. This is a full-time, year round position with benefits.
